Northeast Youth and Family Services Annual Presentation by Jerzy Hromatka, President <br />Business <br />and CEO <br />1. Northeast Youth and <br />Family Services Annual <br />Presentation by Jerry <br />City Manager Lotter welcomed Jerry Hromatka to the City Council meeting. <br />hhorrafla, President and <br />Jerry Hromatka, Northeast Youth and Family Services, thanked the Council for their time. He updated the <br />CEO <br />Council on the events taking place at NYFS noting his organizations main goal was to help 5 <br />to 21 year olds find out what's important in order to induce change. He indicated 4,000 youth <br />and families were helped by NYFS each year. He provided a summary on NYFS's the three <br />major program areas, which were mental health, youth development and day treatment. He <br />explained there was a growing need for youth mental health services throughout the metro <br />area. He discussed how NYFS was partnering with the school districts and youth in distress to <br />improve this situation. Mr. Hromatka described in detail how the City's support benefits New <br />Brighton residents and noted over 162 families were assisted in 2015. He provided an <br />overview on the trends within the community. He explained how he was working to address <br />isolation and trauma, while also improving community connections. The numerous <br />partnerships that have been forged by NYFS were discussed. He appreciated the City's <br />continued support and discussed how NYFS was working to enhance its fundraising culture, <br />while continuing to be good stewards of the City's money. He reported 2016 was NYFS's 40" <br />Anniversary and invited the City Council to participate in the Mayor's Golf Challenge on June <br />13th <br />Mayor Johnson thanked Mr. Hromatka for all the work he does in the community. <br />Councilmember Strub was grateful to Mr. Hromatka and his staff. He appreciated the <br />partnership the City had with NYFS. He believed the work of NYFS was critical given the <br />growing needs of today's youth. He was pleased by the impact NYFS had on improving both <br />its youth and its workforce. He was proud that New Brighton was a part of this organization. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked Mr. Hromatka and his organization for providing a superior <br />service to today's youth. He was encouraged that NYFS was still looking out for the <br />community's youth. He reported he would remain a strong proponent for NYFS while he <br />served on the New Brighton City Council. <br />Councilmember Burg agreed the work being done by NYFS was outstanding. She thanked Mr. <br />Hromatka for his great work on behalf of the community. <br />Mayor Johnson stated she looked forward to participating in the Mayor's Golf Challenge. She <br />urged the City of New Brighton to become more involved with its seniors. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen questioned how residents of New Brighton could become more <br />involved in NYFS.
