March 22, 2016 <br />main water distribution pipeline from WTP1, installation of a new finished water distribution <br />pipe from the DCS to 5th Street NW, modification of raw water pipelines to allow additional <br />capacity or avoid proposed structures, and installation of new storm sewer and sanitary sewer <br />pipeline from the DCS air gap tank. Staff requested the Council adopt a Resolution approving <br />the Site Plan and SUP with conditions. In addition, staff requested the Council approve plans <br />and specifications for Public Improvement Project 16-4 and authorize staff to advertise for <br />bids. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked Barr Engineering and City Manager Lotter for providing the Planning <br />Commission with a thorough report on this item at their recent meeting. He appreciated the partnership the <br />City had with Barr Engineering. <br />Mayor Johnson explained this project was moving forward to assist in correcting, the 1, 4 -dioxane <br />contamination found in the City's water supply and the expense would be covered by the Army. It was her <br />hope the Council would offer their full support of this project. <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Gina Bagman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the EDC would not be meeting in April. She provided the <br />Council with an update from CTV noting a representative from CTV would be attending the <br />Tuesday, May 3ra worksession meeting. <br />Mary B�xrg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Friends of the Park annual tree and shrub sale was still <br />ongoing. Those interested could make purchases now through Friday, April 22"d. She stated <br />on Sunday, April 24th Ne Brighton PRE, C and Public Safety Department would be hosting its <br />second volunteer recognition event. She stated the Eagle's Nest was open daily and hosted 122 <br />parties in the month of February. She noted the New Brighton Rotary Egg Hunt would be held <br />at Driftwood Park on Saturday, March 261". She notified the public that during March and <br />April there would be a prescribed burn in Hanson Park. She indicated PREC would be <br />meeting next on Wednesday, April 6th at 6:30 p.m. She reported she would be filling in for <br />Councilmember Strub at the Public Safety Advisory Committee meeting on Monday, March <br />28th at 6:30 p.m. She noted a. Blood Drive would be held at the Public Safety Building from <br />noon until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31st. She sent a thank you to all of the commission <br />members for their service to the community. <br />Mayor .lohnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported today was World Water Day. She appreciated the residents abiding <br />by the City's current water status. She noted she attended a recent Twin Cities North Chamber <br />of Commerce meeting. At this meeting, the group discussed the road construction that would <br />occur during 2016 and reviewed these projects in detail with the Council. She asked that <br />residents be patient during the 2016 road construction season. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission met last week. He thanked Bruce <br />1 Howard for his 17 years of service to the City of New Brighton. He discussed how the City <br />was working to address the 1, 4 -dioxane issue and noted the new DCS plant was a positive step <br />�- in the right direction.
