co, of <br />4WBPJGHRYN1 <br />the citY thatt works for lou <br />Council Worksession <br />June 7, 2016 <br />5:00 pin <br />Present: Mayor Valerie Johnson <br />Councilmember Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Paul Jacobsen <br />Absent: Councilmember Mary Burg <br />Staff in Attendance: Dean Lotter, Joe Hatch <br />Guests in Attendance: <br />Strategic Plan Lind Admin fork Plan Review <br />Lotter stated the Council would be reviewing its strategic plan and administrative work plan. <br />Hatch reviewed the City's five strategic priorities in detail with the Council, noting the discussions held at the <br />retreat in January. <br />Lotter commented on the new State of MN ID's that would be required in 2018. He anticipated that the City <br />would continue to increase its traffic for the license bureau over the coming years. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen questioned how much the City would make from building permits in 2016. Lotter <br />estimated this would be in the $300,000 to $400,000 range. He provided further comment on how the City was <br />working to expand non -property tax revenue streams. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the City's long-term financial plan and street improvement financing. <br />Mayor Johnson was in favor of starting a Coffee with the Mayor event to improve communication between the <br />City and the public. <br />Councilmember Strub supported this suggestion. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen also supported this initiative. He recommended that an FAQ page be added to the <br />City's webpage for new residents to the City. Hatch discussed the information currently available on the <br />City's website for new residents. <br />Councihnember Strub requested that Open for Business pamphlets be available at City Hall and the <br />Community Center. He recommended that the Council be made aware of the grants that they receive on an <br />annual basis. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen believed it would be beneficial to receive additional information on the partnerships <br />the City has. <br />
