COunCilnember Bauman recommended staff find new cities for comparables that had more in common with <br />New Brighton, or cities located more closely to the City. <br />Hatch discussed employee capabilities and recent training that was provided to senior leadership members. He <br />Lotter indicated the training would assist with providing management staff the tools needed to effective <br />measure performance and address conflict with employees. <br />Mayor Johnson requested that staff also continue to engage and praise the positive work being completed by <br />employees. <br />Councilmember Bauman asked how performance evaluations were currently being conducted. Lotter <br />described how performance evaluations were handled by the City. <br />Further discussion ensured regarding the value and importance of training and developing City employees, <br />along with addressing their wellness. <br />Lotter thanked Hatch for his thorough presentation on the strategic plan. <br />Mayor Johnson discussed Lotter's performance review process stating she wanted this process to be made <br />more fair. She was interested in drafting a new format prior to December. Hatch supported the Mayor <br />pursuing a new format. <br />Mayor Johnson thanked Hatch for his presentation. <br />Councilmember Strub asked if Craig Rath would continue to be a part of the performance evaluation and <br />Council retreat process. Lotter recommended the Council find another facilitator. He believed there was a <br />disconnect between the City's wishes and Mr. Rath's goals. He was in favor of the Council completing the <br />performance evaluations on their own or with the assistance a new facilitator. <br />Councilmember Bauman recommended that Lotter's job description not become too detailed given the fact his <br />job would continue to evolve over time. Lotter agreed that some level of flexibility would be needed for his <br />position description. <br />Councilmember Bauman did not believe that the Council needed a facilitator to assist with the performance <br />evaluation process. She requested Lotter provide the Council with a copy of his current job description to <br />review over the coming months. <br />Mayor Johnson asked if when the DX Team would be meeting next. Lotter explained the DX Team would be <br />meeting on Thursday. June 9"' and Thursday, June 23`d <br />Mayor Johnson discussed the League of Minnesota Cities Conference was upcoming. She requested staff post <br />a meeting notice as the majority of the Council would be attending this event. <br />Mayor Johnson requested the Stockyard Days Committee be allowed to provide the Council with an update at <br />the Tuesday, June 14`x' City Council meeting. <br />Mayor .Johnson provided a full overview of the events that would be included in this year's Stockyard Days. <br />She discussed a bike race that was being planned and would run through the Exchange property and noted the <br />Stockyard Days committee would be taking over the 5K. She requested COuncllmember Strub take the lead on <br />
