Mayor Johnson questioned if the Vermont Park event would be held on National Night Out. Lotter stated this
was discussed, but could be held at any time in August.

The Council did not support holding the Vermont Park event on National Night Out.

Councilmember Burg questioned what type of event would be held at Vermont Park.

Councilmember Jacobsen recalled the Council was interested in holding a Saturday morning tent event at
Vermont Park.

Mayor Johnson proposed a Council panel be held at Vermont Park with refreshments.

Councilmember Jacobsen wanted to see a summary from staff also provided.

Councilmember Bauman suggested the Council review the staff reports so as not to require staff to take time
away from their families on a Saturday. She proposed the Vermont Park event be held on July 23rd.

Councilmember Strub questioned if a 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. meeting on a Thursday night would be better.

Further discussion ensued regarding the proper date and time for the Vermont Park event.

Councilmember Jacobsen indicated the staff update could be summarized down and be put into a handout.

Lotter encouraged the Council to be mindful of resident’s time. He believed the Council may have a better
turnout on a Thursday evening than a Saturday morning.

Councilmember Burg supported the event having hotdogs and chips.

There was Council consensus to hold the Vermont Park event on Thursday, July 21st. Lotter stated he would
draft an agenda and forward this onto the City Council.

Mayor Johnson was not interested in holding a Council meeting offsite at Irondale.

Councilmember Bauman and Councilmember Strub still wanted to see the Council pursue an offsite meeting.

Mayor Johnson did not believe this was a good idea given the fact the Council did not have a good reason to
move a meeting offsite. Second, she appreciated the security at City Hall. She believed it was a great deal of
work for staff to plan an offsite meeting. Rather, she supported the Council holding informal meet and greets
instead.

Councilmember Jacobsen agreed with this assessment.

Councilmember Bauman wanted to see the Council tap into the students and parent s are Irondale High School
through a community event, even if this was not a Council meeting.

Councilmember Strub believed this was a good idea.

Worksession adjourned at 6:23 pm

Respectfully submitted,
