She also wanted to have staff look into additional ways to encourage local businesses to recycle.

Gundlach recommended that Scott Gigrich reach out to the local businesses with further information on the
recycling resources that were available.

Mayor Johnson commented on the July 21st meeting scheduled for Vermont Park. She indicated the purpose of
this meeting was for the Council to get out into the community. She anticipated a tent would be put up for this
meeting and noted City staff would not be in attendance. She suggested a statement be made by the Council
and then allow for a time of questions and answers. She indicated postcards would be sent out to individuals in
this neighborhood inviting them to the meeting.

Councilmember Strub requested there be a handout provided at the meeting. Hatch indicated he had the City’s
latest annual report that could be provided to residents at the meeting, along with the recent water quality
report.

Councilmember Burg recommended that hotdogs be grilled at the event and that light refreshments be offered
in order to entice additional residents to the event.

Councilmember Strub supported this suggestion.

Mayor Johnson stated he would work with staff on this further and believed that a staff member should be in
attendance to assist with manning the grill in order to make each of the Councilmembers available for
questions and answers.

Worksession adjourned at 6:22 pm

Respectfully submitted,

Terri Haarstad
City Clerk
