She noted the last Comprehensive Plan update was completed in 2008.
She anticipated the 2018 Comp Plan updates would be more extensive. Staff provided further comment on the
three consultant proposals. She explained staff had budgeted enough funds to cover the cost of the consultants.
The Met Council’s core goals for the next 20 years were reviewed.

Councilmember Strub understood the Comprehensive Plan has not been addressed for over 10 years.
Gundlach stated this was correct.

Mayor Johnson questioned when the revised Comp Plan was due. Gundlach stated the deadline was December
31, 2018.

Councilmember Strub asked how the public would be engaged through this planning process. He
recommended the Town Hall meeting be focused on the Comp Plan. He questioned which consultant would
be the best partner to engage the public. He asked
how much of the visioning falls to staff and how much should be outsourced. He wanted to be assured the
public was part of this visioning process as well.

Councilmember Bauman agreed with the public engagement component and believed this should happen
through ongoing communication.
