Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office – Yearly Update <br /> <br />Ramsey County Chief Deputy Jack Sarear introduced himself and thanked the Council for their time. He <br />discussed the positive relationship the Sheriff’s Office has with the New Brighton Public Safety Department. <br />He explained the County was very happy with its new records management system and would be looking to <br />purchase a new jail management system in May of 2017. He described how the new RMS system was able <br />to conduct crime mapping. He reported the Coffee with a Cop and Hot Dog with a Deputy events have been <br />very successful. He indicated the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association 21st Century law enforcement report <br />would be available in the spring of 2017 and would be forwarded to the City of New Brighton. He provided <br />further comment on the positive benefits of the PRIME (Positive Responsible Inmates Managed Effectively) <br />program being used with Ramsey County inmates. He encouraged all Ramsey County residents to deposit <br />their unused medications with the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office. He then thanked all of the residents of <br />New Brighton who attended the Fright Farm and noted the Sheriff’s Department was able to raise just over <br />$100,000 in 2016. <br />Councilmember Strub thanked Chief Deputy Sarear for his report. He appreciated the strong relationship <br />Ramsey County had with the New Brighton Public Safety Department. He thanked the County for holding <br />outreach activities and for engaging the public. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked the Sheriff’s Department for their efforts with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon. <br />He asked what the main concern was for Ramsey County at this time. Chief Deputy Sarear stated drug abuse <br />continued to be a main concern for deputies, along with finding positive ways to engage youth. <br />Councilmember Bauman thanked Chief Deputy Sarear for his service to the community. She understood the <br />environment deputies worked in was changing and encouraged the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department to <br />continue to find positive ways to interact with the public. <br />Councilmember Burg thanked the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department for all that they do for the <br />community. <br />Mayor Johnson thanked Chief Deputy Sarear for his thorough report and for all he does on behalf of the City <br />of New Brighton. <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br />1. Consideration to Approve Payments: <br /> a. EFT #1079 to 1214 for $144,712.59. <br /> b. Voucher #152631 to 152705 for $938,987.17. <br /> <br />2. Consideration of a Resolution approving a Site Plan amendment for Simply Self <br />Storage regarding an interior climate controlled storage building at 251 5th ST NW. <br /> <br />3. Consideration of a Resolution approving a Nonconforming Use Permit regarding <br />additions to the existing home at 2166 Lakebrook Drive. <br /> <br />4. Consideration of a Resolution approving a Special Use Permit to allow <br />replacement of the existing ground sign with a dynamic/electronic reader board <br />sign for Faith Christian Reformed Church located at 1600 Silver Lake Road. <br /> <br />5. Consideration of Ordinance No. 848 Amending Article 4 of Chapter 26 of the City Code <br />Regarding Park Land Dedication. <br /> <br />6.
