<br />MINUTES <br />New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br />Regular Meeting – July 6, 2016 <br />7:30 a.m. <br /> <br />Members/Liaisons Present: Chair Paul Zisla, Commissioners, Monica Garcia-Perez, Kevin Peck, Mike <br />Murlowski, and Harry Carter <br /> <br />Members/Liaisons Absent: Commissioners D.L. Beach, Graeme Allen, Bob Benke and Al Potter <br /> <br />Staff Present: Janice Gundlach- Assistant Community Assets & Development/Planning Director; <br />Community Assets & Development Director Craig Schlichting; and Mayor Johnson <br />Also Present: <br />Call to Order <br />Chairperson Zisla called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. <br /> <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Motion by Commissioner Garcia-Perez, seconded by Commissioner Peck to approve the agenda as <br />presented. <br /> <br />Approved 5-0 <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Motion by Commissioner Murlowski, seconded by Commissioner Garcia-Perez to approve the minutes <br />from the June 1, 2016 meeting. <br /> <br />Approved 5-0 <br /> <br />Report from Council Liaison <br />Mayor Johnson stated the City was close to switching over to Minneapolis water. She noted Xpress <br />Stop would be updating their canopy and façade. She encouraged all to participate in Stockyard Days <br />(August 7-15) and provided an overview of the planned events. She invited the public to visit the New <br />Brighton Farmer’s Market at the United Theological Seminary which would be held every Wednesday <br />throughout the summer. She reported Public Safety Director Bob Jacobson would be retiring and a <br />reception would be held in his honor on Thursday, July 7th at the Community Center from 5:00 to 8:00 <br />p.m. In addition, Officer Kathy McNealy would be retiring and her Open House would be held on July <br />26th. <br /> <br />Further discussion ensued regarding the events planned for Stockyard Days and the bike races. <br /> <br />Chair Zisla was excited to see the bike races coming to the City of New Brighton and how this event <br />would grow in the coming years. <br /> <br />Commissioner Carter was excited to see how the farmer’s market and bike race would positively impact <br />Stockyard Days. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Sense of Place Discussion <br />Gundlach reviewed the Commission’s previous discussion regarding sense of place. <br />Not Approved <br />
