13 <br />VII. VOLUNTEER SERVICES <br /> <br /> This section contains information on our various volunteer organizations related to <br />Public Safety. This includes the activities of the Public Safety Commission, Police <br />Reserves, Police Explorers, and Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS). <br /> <br />Activity for the month includes the following: <br /> <br />The Public Safety Commission held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, <br />December 7th at the Public Safety Center. The meeting included updates on public safety <br />and Allina activities as well as from Council Member Brian Strub. <br /> <br />The Police Reserves donated 111.5 hours in December and ended the year with 1,326.4 <br />hours donated for the year! <br /> <br />The Volunteers in Public Safety donated 202.5 hours in December!! And, they donated a <br />total of 1,237.95 hours in 2015. VIPS also fingerprinted 130 citizens as a service to those <br />who need background checks for various reasons. Thanks VIPS!! <br /> <br />The Police Explorers donated 1,058.25 hours for 2015! <br /> <br />VIII. HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> <br /> This section will review ongoing activities for homeland security and emergency <br />management. This includes the activities of the New Brighton Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT). <br /> <br />IX. TRAINING <br /> <br /> This section will review the training activities of our Public Safety personnel for the <br />month. <br /> <br />Deputy Director Paetznick and Chaplain Dan Carlson attended training for “Keeping the <br />Force Strong: Intervention, Treatment and Recovery Options”. <br /> <br />All licensed police officers attended training for “Sex Trafficking for Law Enforcement” <br />Officer Voeller and Officer Nerison attended training for “Anatomy of Use of Force <br />Incidents” <br /> <br />Sgt. Nelson conducted firearms training for police officers which included shooting <br />around barricades with multiple officers.
