14 <br />Public Safety was recently paid a visit by two special agents from the State of Minnesota <br />Department of Public Safety Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division (AGED) who <br />were doing a courtesy call to meet with police agency leadership prior to their routine <br />compliance audits of bars and restaurants in New Brighton. The two agents advised that <br />their regular inspections are generally focused on education rather than enforcement. <br />AGED special investigators conduct inspection and compliance visits to licensed liquor <br />establishments to ensure compliance with the state liquor laws and rules, which include <br />promotion and trade practice violations, and illegal advertising promotions. <br /> <br />Following the promotion of Ed Sypniewski to the rank of Sergeant, Officer Matt Voeller <br />was recently assigned to the vacant Investigator position, joining Mike Lochen and <br />Matthew DeBoer to form the Investigations team. <br /> <br />XI. RECOGNITION, NEWS AND INFORMATION <br /> <br /> This section will include “good news” information about our public safety personnel. <br />This will include formal and informal recognition of the department and/or its personnel <br />on or off duty. <br /> <br />During one of the preseason Viking games, members of the Law Enforcement Memorial <br />Association (LEMA) color guard, including our own agency representative to the group <br />Officer Ted Layton, presented the colors on the field of the new US Bank Stadium during <br />the singing of the National Anthem before the Vikings played the LA Rams. <br /> <br />During the annual Association of Minnesota Emergency Managers Fall Conference <br />retired Director of Public Safety Bob Jacobson was awarded a lifetime membership to <br />AMEM based on his significant contributions to Emergency Management in the State. <br />
