May 15t" <br />• A new financial software package is in the works for the City. The new <br />system will help with tracking information <br />• Updating the City's website. Council has agreed for staff to move forward. <br />• City Open House is schedule for May 7, 9am — Noon at the New Brighton <br />Community Center. <br />• Thanked City Clerk Haarstad for the presentation she gave tonight. It is <br />very important. Council Member Burg also thanked the Commission. <br />B. Chair Updates <br />No updates. <br />C. Commission Reports on Parks <br />Driftwood: Parker. Volleyball Court; one net missing. Garbage cans may need to <br />be spaced out. Park looks good. <br />Freedom: Brunell. Park looks good. Ball field looks ready for play. There is a <br />log by skateboard park. <br />Hansen: Fields. Frisbee golf very busy. Park looks good. <br />Hidden Oaks: Quade. Everything looks good. <br />Innsbruck: Kunesh-Podein. Looks great. Looks ready for soccer. Playground <br />looks good. It did really well this winter. <br />Meadow Wood: Eischen. Looks good. <br />Silver Oaks/Totem Pole: Justin. Two weeks ago Silver Oaks looked good. Totem <br />Pole, the basketball court is very busy. Basketball players very vocal, some <br />language problems. That may be keeping young families away from new <br />playground. Perhaps there could be 2 basketball courts for the variety of ages. <br />Group there does bring in people who are driving there. <br />Sunny Square/Vermont: McEathron. Vermont was very busy this past weekend. <br />Busiest he has seen it. Saw kids flying kites, the basketball court was busy and <br />tricycle has been picked up. Sunny Square had some minor vandalism which <br />was reported. Co. Rd H closed, so many people doing U turns in the parking lot. <br />Otherwise, the park looks good. <br />Veterans: Stenglein. Playground looks great. Trash and debris by the outfield <br />fence. Building looks fine. There is some trash around the pond. Snow plow must <br />have ripped some curbing up by St. John's parking Lot. <br />D. Department Happenings / upcoming events <br />Jason Hicks, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director highlighted some of the <br />Department Happenings: <br />• Many attended classes in Driver Safety, Adaptive Bowling, volleyball <br />leagues, group fitness, gymnastics, karate and CPR classes. <br />• Golf Course is open. <br />• City received its first Growth Award by the Arbor Day Foundation. <br />• Parks and Rec Department partnered with Usborne Books during the <br />2015-2016 winter season at the Eagles Nest. Hosted 5 or 6 book fairs. <br />
