Also talked about whether air conditioning should be <br />added to the Neighborhood Centers; not a value for two months of use. <br /> <br />Missouri Gravel Bed: <br />A stop occurred to share with the tour group the location of the bed. The Gravel Bed <br />was established in 2013 with the planting of 67 bareroot trees. In 2016, 135 bareroot <br />trees were planted. Trees are put in the bed in the spring and planted on boulevards <br />and in parks during the fall. <br /> <br />Silver Oaks Park: <br />The park was established in 1977. The playground was installed in 2008 and the <br />smaller playground, from the New Brighton Community Center, was relocated to Silver <br />Oaks in the fall of 2010. Discussion Included: Ball fields are being used by families. <br />Landscape timbers are tipping on playground side. Sledding Hill light was a big hit last <br />winter. Talked about getting resident input on what to do with the tennis courts; should <br />it be replaced with tennis, dedicated pickleball courts, or green space? <br /> <br />Hansen Park: <br />The park was established in 1968. The disc golf course was installed in 1979; one of <br />the first in the State of MN. The playground was installed in 2012. The disc golf course <br />was discussed, including a recent request to expand the number of holes at the park. <br />Main entrance to the park had weeds that needed to be pulled; seasonal staff to <br />increase shortly and that will help with this work. Discussed trail (northwest side) being <br />under water; talked about park encroachment that should resolve itself with the Rice <br />Creek Watershed Project; talked about tree transplanting; and the bridge (Dam) being <br />temporarily removed. <br /> <br />Driftwood Park: <br />The park was established in 1977. The playground was installed in 2009. Noted was <br />that branches needed to be picked-up. Discussed the removal of the building from this <br />park in 2015; and how this field is over utilized and needs a year of rest. Aluminum <br />slide will need to be replaced (estimated cost: $11,000). <br /> <br />Dinner: <br />Dinner was purchased at United Theological Seminary to help support the fundraiser for <br />the Farmers Market. <br /> <br />Hidden Oaks Park: <br />The park was established in 1977. The playground was refurbished in 2013. <br />Discussion included: Adding more pickleball courts to the current tennis court; talked <br />about an upcoming volunteer service group project of buckthorn removal from the <br />woods; talked about the removal of the building in 2015; talked about previous <br />vandalism to the field at this park and how the field is always wet. This was the first park <br />where a playground refurbishing took place. <br /> <br />New Brighton Exchange: <br />The tour group went into the first parking lot at Long Lake Regional Park to see the <br />current Ramsey County side of the park and to discuss the partnership and <br />collaborative effort and how the Ramsey County Park and New Brighton’s Lion Park will
