Thanks to Chairman Robert Allen for giving the annual Public Safety Com mission Report at the
Council meeting on January 12. We also accepted the first place in the Nation award for
National Night Out; accepted donations from our residents for the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf
(which included 5,050 lbs of food, 1,971 lbs of school supplies and monetary donations of $419);
and agreed to a closest unit dispatching agreement for fire services.

Public Safety conducted a presentation at the January 12th work session to Council on 21st
Century Policing. It was well received.

Matt Farmer and Charlie Prasek have been promoted to Fire Captain effective January 1st. Matt
also serves as a Police Officer and Charlie also serves as a Public Safety Officer (PSO).

Director Jacobson also noted that on December 10th, Officer Riedel, Officer Wakasugi, and
Officer Krebsbach delivered a healthy baby boy prior to the arrival of Allina medics.

Commissioner Lamp inquired about AARP providing training on phone scams, etc. Director
Jacobson reported we are working on putting together “hot topic” presentations in 2016; some
topics being considered are fraud, use of force, and 21st Century Policing.

Council Liaison
A. Council Report

Council Member Brian Strub reported Council greatly appreciates the service and the work this
commission does. Council Liaison appointments to the commissions are not done yet.

Commission appointments are open now so encourage people to apply. The deadline for
applications is February 5. Also, any youth group is encouraged to attend the Council meetings
and lead the pledge of allegiance.

Commissioner Eichers asked if the sound walls that are planned for 35W will be on state or
personal property. Council Member Strub stated he did not know but will find out. Planned
improvements on 35W from Hwy 36 in Roseville to Lexington will include sound walls.

Commissioner Eichers inquired if there would be neighborhood meetings in 2016. Council
Member Strub reported this has not been decided yet for 2016.

Old Business
A. Student Commission Member Update

Director Jacobson reported there has been no person interested yet in being a student
Commissioner.

New Business

Commissioner Eichers asked if a School Resource Officer could give a presentation to this
commission in the future. Director Jacobson stated that we can do this again and will look at the
schedule.
