Allina Health <br />Ms. Renee Rosenberg reported that the nurse’s strike impacted operations with many EMS leaders <br />serving in EOC roles at the system hospitals. <br /> <br />Allina will be adding 12-hours/day of ambulance/paramedic coverage in January and have requested <br />10 new vehicles (not just replacement) for the capital budget (77 total in fleet). <br /> <br />Currently, Allina is 35 FTE short in paramedic staffing, with 14 of these in the north metro on <br />maternity leave. There is a potential for another nurse’s strike but not during 4th of July. <br /> <br />C. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen noted the blood drive last week collected 23 units of blood. <br /> <br />D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br /> <br />Deputy Director Paetznick reviewed all of the personnel changes: <br /> <br />Departures: <br />o PSO Charlie Prasek accepted a position with Parks & Rec as of May 16. <br />o Firefighter Jerry Hedman will retire on June 28 after 30 years of service to New Brighton. <br />o Director Bob Jacobson will retire on July 13 after almost 33 years of service to New Brighton. <br />o Officer Tyler Wakasugi has resigned effective July 19; he has accepted a position as a Police <br />Officer with the City of Brooklyn Park. <br />o Officer Kathy McNeely will retire on July 29 after 25 years of service to New Brighton. <br /> <br />Arrivals: <br />o Thai Xiong began his career as a Police Officer on May 12. <br />o Donald Kostohryz began his career as a Police Officer on June 27. <br />o Travis Nordhus will begin his career as a Police Officer on June 29. <br />o Mike Honkanen will begin his career as a Public Safety Officer on July 7. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lamp had questions from the last monthly report about thefts (mainly attributed to LA <br />Fitness) and motor vehicle crashes (occur mainly at SLR/694, and corridor extending from 7th to 14th <br />Streets NW). <br /> <br />Deputy Director Paetznick provided an update on the DWI Officer position/stats. <br />
