Actin,, City <br />Manauer Hatch repotted a criterium race Nvas a highly competitive. short tract: I ace that was only one-half <br />mile in lennh. <br />COLIncilmeniber Bauman asked ifthere would be a fee to participate in the bike races. Acting City Manager <br />Hatch stated there would be. It was his hope that the event \.vould draw 125 to 150 participants. The iee for <br />participation in these races would be $25. <br />Councilmember Burg thanked staff for the thorough report. She requested fiuther information on llo4v the <br />City receives funding fi-om T\vin Cities Gate\vay. Acting City Manager Hatch explained the goals and <br />objectives of Twin Cities Gateway noting this group provides local option hotel tax back to member cities. <br />Councilmember Brn-g questioned What route the antique cars would use through the City. Mayor Johnson <br />reviewed the Mute that would be taken this year and stated the roadwork would not be an issue. <br />Councilmember Burg requested fiuther information regattiing the medallion hunt. Acting City Manager <br />Hatch explained the medallion would be hidden in a City park. Hints and clues would be available on the <br />City's website daily. <br />Mayor Johnson indicated the Stockyard Days committee would be hiring a trolley in order to assist with <br />parking. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen questioned how people could volunteer for Stockyard Days. Mayor Johnson <br />stated Stockyard Days was nen completely by volunteers and donations. She discussed how volunteers and <br />food vendors could get involved in this wonderful community event. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announecments and Updates <br />Joe Hatch <br />Acting City Manager Hatch reported he was filling in tonight for City Manager Lotter who was <br />on vacation. He explained he was busy working with the Stockyard Days Committee at this <br />time. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman had nothing to report. <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported stated the Public Safety Commission met on Monday, June 27th <br />where they received a presentation on auto theft. He stated he attended a meeting on June 22"d <br />that was hosted by MnDOT regarding the proposed 1-35W improvements. He discussed the <br />MnPASS lanes that would be added to 1-35W from Highway 36 to Lexington Avenue. He <br />explained he attended the League of Minnesota Cities Conference June 16t1i and 17t1i. He <br />provided comment on the informative sessions he attended. He encouraged all to attend the <br />retirement party for Public Safety Director Bob Jacobson on Thursday, July 7t1i at the New <br />Brighton Community Center. He thanked all of the volunteers who recently participated in the <br />local Blood Drive. <br />Mary Burg <br />Council mem ber Burg provided an update fi•om the Cable Commission. She noted the group <br />continues to work on the franchise agreements. She explained she also attended the League of <br />Minnesota Cities Conference in St. Paul. She noted the City of Minneapolis water interconnect <br />would be completed mid-July. She thanked Tony Patznek for stepping forward to serve as the <br />interim Public Safety Director for the City of New Brighton. She encouraged New Brighton <br />residents to visit Dairy Queen on the third Tuesday of each month where 10% of proceeds will <br />be donated to the New Brighton Community Center to assist with Park and Recreation program <br />(commission Liaison <br />Reports, <br />Announcements and <br />Vvdates <br />
