January 24, 2017 Page 6 of 6 <br />Mary Bu ra <br />Councilmember Burg reported she attended the League of Women Voter's legislative update <br />last week. She stated she was privileged enough to be in Washington DC over the weekend <br />and got to witness the transfer of power and participated in the march. She was extremely <br />pleased by the turnout for this event and hoped women's rights would continue to be <br />addi,essed. She invited the public to attend a bonfire being hosted by PREC at Freedom Park at <br />6:00 1).m. on Saturday, January 28th. Those attending were encouraged to bring a donation for <br />the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. She explained on February 1 St through February 41h the <br />Community Center would be hosting the Go For Red event to raise awareness for heart <br />disease. She noted PREC would be meeting next on Wednesday, February 1St at 6:30 p.m. at <br />City Hall. <br />Mayor .Inhrzson <br />Mayor Johnson reported she also attended the League of Women Voter's event last week. She <br />encouraged residents to contact her with any legislative concerns. She noted she attended <br />meetings with the North Metro Mayers and Five Cities. She explained staff and herself met <br />with API's leadership team to discuss their options. She stated on Monday, January 30th <br />Irondale High School would be hosting its first Izzy Program which would encourage residents <br />to get to know their neighbors. She explained she was discussing with the Public Safety <br />Department potential of New Brighton hosting a racial equality conversation. She was sad to <br />announce the Sportsman's fishing contest had to be canceled again this year.
