February 14, 2017 Page 5 of 6 <br />None. <br />Council Business Council Business <br />None. <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates Commission Liaison <br />Reports, <br />Announcements and <br />Dean Lotter Updates <br />City Manager Lotter reported he spoke to the Met Council Environmental committee today and <br />updated them on the City's water situation. He explained residents have been contacting the <br />City regarding Hanson Park. He discussed how Mother Nature has not been cooperating with <br />this project. He provided an overview on how this project will proceed and stated the County <br />would be visiting with the Council at a future meeting. He indicated the Assistant City <br />Manager candidate was going through a thorough background check and staff should know <br />soon if the candidate had passed this test. He thanked Director Paetznick for his great <br />leadership at a recent Public Safety Recognition event and congratulated Jeremy Berger for <br />being named Firefighter of the Year. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported CTV met recently and the group discussed new compliance <br />codes for cell towers. She explained there would be a CTV strategic planning session meeting <br />on Thursday, February 16th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the entire City Council was invited <br />to attend. <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reviewed the list of award winners from the Public Safety Recognition <br />event. He congratulated each of these individuals on their achievements. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission would be meeting on Tuesday, <br />February 21St. He noted CPY would be holding their spring luncheon on Tuesday, March 7th at <br />the New Brighton Community Center from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. He then wished everyone <br />a Happy Valentine's Day. <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported she would be meeting with Senator Lane and would be testifying at <br />the state tomorrow morning with Finance Director Davitt regarding the DMV. She encouraged <br />the public to attend the upcoming neighborhood meeting at Freedom Park on Thursday, <br />February 23`d. She explained this meeting would assist the Council in gathering public input <br />11or the Comprehensive Plan. It was noted another neighborhood meeting would be held on <br />Thursday, March 230 at Hanson Park. She indicated there would be a multi -cultural showcase <br />at Irondale on Wednesday, February 15'h at 6:30 p.m. She stated she looked forward to the <br />City having a new Assistant City Manager on staff. Mayor Johnson discussed the Public <br />Safety Department's Award Recognition event. She congratulated all those who received <br />awards and thanked them for their efforts on behalf of the City of New Brighton. She <br />commented on the juvenile crime rate in New Brighton and commended the efforts of the <br />Public Safety's department on their efforts. <br />Adiournment <br />., Adjournment <br />Mayor Johnson adjourned the meeting at 7:38 p.m. The meeting adjourned <br />at 7:38 p.m. <br />
