April H, 2017 Page 4 of 4 <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman stated she attended the EDC meeting on April 5'h where the group <br />discussed a potential housing loan program and low income housing. She explained the EDC <br />was split on this topic at this time. She thanked Ms. Gundlach for providing the EDC with a <br />great deal of background information on this topic. She reported she attended a Cable <br />Commission meeting on April 6'h where the group addressed its strategic plan and future <br />budget. <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub stated the Public Safety Department wanted to make the public aware <br />that Severe Weather Awareness Week would begin on April 17th in the State of Minnesota. He <br />thanked the President of the United Theological Seminary for holding an Open House to <br />discuss the 2017 Street Rehabilitation project. He discussed several local theatrical <br />productions taking place and encouraged the public to take these in. He congratulated the <br />Irondale Robotics team for making it to the semi-finals in State. He then reviewed an article <br />regarding New Brighton from a recent school district magazine. <br />Mary Burst <br />Councilmember Burg reported she attended the PREC meeting on April 5th where the group <br />discussed a potential dog park in the City of New Brighton. She stated PREC also discussed a <br />potential outdoor pickle ball court in the community. She explained PREC was addressing the <br />bidding process for the Eagle's Nest in order to ensure the project was completed this fall. She <br />then commented on the need for additional low income housing in the metro area and <br />understood there was a need to make the public aware of homelessness in this area. She <br />explained the League of Women Voters would meet on Tuesday, April 18`h at 6:30 p.m. at the <br />Community Center. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen encouraged the public to continue to provide the City with input for <br />the Comprehensive Plan via the City's website or at the Town Hall meeting on Saturday, April <br />29`h. He stated he would be attending the Metro Cities meeting on Thursday, April 20'1'. He <br />welcomed the newly appointed Commissioners and thanked them for their service. He thanked <br />all of the highly qualified New Brighton residents who interviewed for these positions. <br />Mavor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson noted she recently attend the Rotary Club's Gold Club fundraiser. She noted <br />the Rotary Club annual Easter Egg Hunt would be on Saturday, April 15"' at Driftwood Park <br />for children up .to seven years of age. She stated on Wedncsday, May 3`d she would be <br />attending the Leadership Luncheon for NYFS.
