Nt-4'V.l3rightot <br />Anrbas ns—Paahil <br />Mayor Johnson invited the New Brighton Ambassadors to come forward and to introduce themselves to the <br />Pnc=riaton <br />City Council. The New Brighton Stockyard Days Ambassadors introduced themselves to the Council and <br />presented the City Council with a portrait. <br />Mayor Johnson thanked the Ambassadors for the portrait and for their service to the community. <br />Councilmember Burg questioned how many events or parades the ambassadors would be attending. The <br />ambassadors stated they would be attending 60+ events this summer. <br />2. New Brighton Lions Paris Playground—Accept Donation <br />2. New Brighton Dons <br />PadsPlaygromd—Acoept <br />City Manager Lotter stated Acting Parks and Recreation Director Hicks would be presenting this item to the <br />Donation <br />Council. <br />Acting Parks and Recreation Director Hicks explained the Couch Family Foundation has donated $1,000 to <br />the City to assist with the new playground at Lions Park. He noted the donation was requested by the <br />Vandergon family. <br />Mayor Johnson requested the Vandergon family come forward and discuss why they were involved in this <br />park planning process. <br />Cedar Vandergon explained he built a home in the new Pulte development specifically for Brea, so that it <br />would be fully accessible. When he learned that a park was going into the development he thought it would <br />be great to get involved and have the park also be accessible. He stated he worked for a company in New <br />Brighton called Hypertherm and they believe in giving back to the community. <br />Mayor Johnson thanked the Vandergon's for their efforts on the park committee and for seeking donations. <br />She indicated she was willing to work with staff and the community to continue to raise funds for Lions Paris. <br />Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Jacobsen to Approve a <br />Resolution Accepting the Donation of $1,000 from the Couch Family Foundation. <br />Councilmember Strub thanked the members ofthe community for coming forward and participating in the <br />Lions Park planning process. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br />Consent Agenda <br />I .
