June 27, 2017 Page 2 of 9 <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to approve the <br />minutes from the June 13, 2017 meeting. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br />Commission Minutes <br />Mayor Johnson received the following minutes on behalf of the City: <br />• Planning commission Minutes from May 16, 2017. <br />Special Order of I3usiness <br />1. Oath of Office for Police Officer Taylor Wodnick. <br />City Cleric Marohn administered the Oath of Office to Police Officer Taylor Wodnick and welcomed her to <br />the New Brighton Public Safety Department. A round of applause was offered by all in attendance. <br />Public Safety Director Paet nick stated this has been an exciting year for Officer Wodnick and he <br />congratulated her on her accomplishments. He provided the Council with a brief history on Officer <br />Wodnick's work experience and explained he looked forward to having Officer Wodnick join the New <br />Brighton Police Department. <br />Councilmember Strub welcomed Officer Wodnick to the City ofNew Brighton and thanked the Public <br />Safety Commission for their commitment to the community. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated across the country Public Safety Officers were not always viewed in a <br />positive light. He was extremely thankful that this community appreciated its Public Safety Officers. He <br />encouraged Officer Wodnick to become a positive role model for this community. <br />Councilmember Bauman welcomed Officer Wodnick to New Brighton's Public Safety Department and for <br />the sacrifices she would make on behalf ofthe City. <br />Councilmember Burg thanked Officer Wodnick to the community and wished her well in her new position. <br />Mayor Johnson stated she had great expectations for Officer Wodnick. She encouraged Officer Wodnick to <br />serve and protect to the best of her ability while also maintaining her own personal safety. <br />At this time in the meeting Officer Slack introduced the New Brighton Police Explorers to the City Council, <br />along with the events they would be attending this summer. <br />Consent Agenda <br />1. Consider Approval of Payments of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) 1943-1950 & Vouchers <br />153889 to 154004 for a total of $1,304,862.77. <br />2. Consider Authorization to Purchase a 2017 Bobcat S650. <br />3. Consideration of Ordinance 852 amending Article 4 of Chapter 8 of the Zoning <br />Code, clarifying and defining expansion of a nonconforming use. <br />4. Consider Resolution Authorizing an Amendment to the Retirement Benefit Level <br />for the New Brighton Firefighter's Relief Association Bylaws. <br />5. Consider Resolution Accepting Donation from Bel Air PTA. <br />6. Consider Change Order 3 for City Project 16-5, New Brighton Lions Park. <br />Motion by Councilmember Strub, seconded by Councihnember Jacobsen to approve the Consent <br />Agenda as presented. <br />Commission Minutes <br />Special Order of <br />Business <br />1.
