Councilmember Burg reiterated that Commissioners were serving at the will of the Council and if they were <br />doing a good job could continue and if not, they could be reappointed. She stated she supported the proposed <br />language amendments that would allow the Council to decide if a change was needed. <br />Lotter commented further on the term limit language. He supported the Council being able to evaluate the <br />value of Commissioners based on their area of expertise, time served, and contributions to the City. He <br />suggested additional language be added that states the Council wished to have these values reflected on each <br />Commission and will evaluate the positions on a yearly basis. <br />Commissioner Bauman stated if this was the case, no Commissioner would be guaranteed a three-year term. <br />Mayor Johnson commented this was the case as Commissioners serve at the will of the Council and positions <br />would be reviewed on a yearly basis. Lotter described how the interviewing process has evolved over the <br />years to meet the changing needs of the City and its Commissions.
