City Council/Teambuilding Retreat Report <br />January 7, 2017 <br />Report prepared by Barbara Strandell 6 <br />F. Continually finding ways to provide quality services through excellent customer service and focusing <br />on the needs of the community. <br />G. New Brighton will be a City with a high quality of living, excellent public services, directed by <br />visionary (yet obtainable) planning. <br />H. Safe, vibrant, progressive community that invests in its people and places. <br />I. Continue to be the place people want to live to have the benefits of strong schools, good parks, <br />safe community with proximity and access to urban amenities. <br />J. Improved Quality of Life through flood/traffic/trail/street and utility improvement projects, improved <br />sense of place, economic development of under performing properties/areas. <br />K. I like the small town feel New Brighton has, but also I would like to see it become a little more <br />metropolitan with better-maintained parks, more professional signage, and more programming in <br />recreation for our residents. <br />L. A City NOT know n for its water issues and an organization where employees feel respected and <br />valued by the Council and residents <br />M. Investing in improvements that make New Brighton a great place to live, including redevelopment, <br />housing programs, street-scaping, public art, community events, etc. <br />N. Find a way to keep our City ever green and relevant for people of all ages to live, work, or play. <br />_______________________________________ <br />Branding – Top of Mind Exercise <br />Participants were given the names of 10 Minnesota Cities and asked to write down what comes to mind <br />first when thinking of that city – an impression, opinion or image. Then the group was asked what “top of <br />mind” image do we want others to have about New Brighton.
