A-14 Appendix A DRAFT
Survey Responses: Redevelopment Areas
ID #Redevelopment
Area
What are some features of this area that you
would like to see maintained/preserved in
the future?
What improvements could be made to enhance
this area over the next 20 years?
1 694 & Silver Lake
Road
It is nice having a car dealership and
McDonald's here. However, I have never
ventured past the Ford dealership as the
buildings aren't anything special and never
once in any google search did any other
business come up that I needed.
The buildings on the service road from what I can
recall are well maintained just tired. Ironically
I can barely recall and I get onto 694 there all
the time and nothing pulls my eye after the Ford
dealer.
2 694 & Silver Lake
Road
The diverse ages in this neighborhood are
wonderful! I think the run off pond off of
Linden would benefit from some clearing.
Adding sidewalks and more accessible parking
to the health center on Black Oak Drive would
benefit the health center and the townhomes.
Partnering with the health center to add
moderately priced housing with services
and intergenerational daycare would greatly
benefit the city and those who live & work in
this area.
I think this area could benefit from an all-age
accessible community/neighborhood center,
sidewalks and some type of coffee shop/
restaurant.
3 694 & Silver Lake
Road
I like the variety of businesses here, due to the
central location, I'd like to see these businesses
continue to be things that people visit often,
not things that people need only every now
and then.
I would love to see the facade of the buildings
improved to a more "modern" look. I think people
would be drawn in by a new updated feel.
4 County Road E &
Silver Lake Road
It's nice that there are businesses here, so I'd
like the area to remain a commercial space,
but it looks pretty old and nobody seems to
frequent these businesses.
I'd like to see the area redone to be more easily
accessible from the road and also some new
businesses- the parking lots are so empty all the
time, I think it's time for some turnover. Nice to
see the new Tahini business, though their food
wasn't great when we tried it. Lots of potential
here.
5 County Road E &
Silver Lake Road
Reduce the concrete impact by using grass pavers.
The amount of heat asphalt and concrete on
a sunny day is tremendous, and better for our
watershed too. I know I don't enjoy being on E/
Silver Lk rd, due to the auto exhaust in the middle
of a business day.
6 County Road E &
Silver Lake Road
I am against the smoke shop being there with
its tacky light displays. It really dampens the
wholesome image of New Brighton, and NB
should have regulations against unnecessary
neon/light displays.
A more pedestrian and bike friendly path/
crosswalks to Silver Lake Park - wider sidewalks,
more shrubs/small trees to filter out the auto
fumes.
7 New Brighton
Exchange Coffee shop, restaurants, office space,
8 New Brighton
Exchange
Install a water splash park. Because we have no
outdoor pools in the city, I think some type of a
water park would be a great improvement - if not
this area, somewhere in the city
