There were 37 exhibitors resulting in
revenue of $1,800.00. These exhibitors rely on foot traffic to determine if the event was
successful and if they want to register in the future. The goal of utilizing the temporary signs is
to increase the visibility of the event and therefore, increase the number of attendees.

Explanation:
ThrivExpo is an exhibitor event that will be held at the New Brighton Community Center on
Thursday, September 14 from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm. The event provides adults 55+ access to local
health opportunities and other senior services. Participants can visit with senior service or
wellness vendors, enjoy light refreshments and register for prize giveaways. Other ways the
event is being marketed include the use of direct mailings, CTV15, social media, the city website
and city publications.

Temporary signage will be placed along the main traffic areas to further promote ThrivExpo
from August 14-September 14. The sign ordinance in the Zoning Code Policy 9-040, (2)F
allows for temporary signs for civic celebrations and events. Signs, for such events; are exempt
from fees and are allowed with City Council approval.

________________________
Lori Hokenson
Recreation Supervisor
AGENDA SECTION: Consent
REPORT DATE: July 28, 2017
MEETING DATE: August 8, 2017
