<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consideration to Approve the Purchase and Installation of a <br />Smoke Evacuation Exhaust Fan at the New Brighton Community Center <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Jason Hicks, Acting Director of Parks and <br />Recreation <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br /> <br /> <br />No comments to supplement this report _______ Comments attached ______ <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Approve the purchase and installation of a smoke evacuation exhaust fan at the New Brighton <br />Community Center from NAC Mechanical and Electrical Services. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br />June 13, 2017 – Council considered bids and awarded contract for the replacement of the Eagles <br />Nest Indoor Playground to Commercial Recreation Specialists. <br /> <br />June 6, 2017 – Requested information and further research was provided to Council at a work <br />session. <br /> <br />May 23, 2017 – Recommendation was provided to Council to consider bids and award contract <br />for the replacement for the Eagles Nest Indoor Playground. Council requested additional <br />information to be presented at the next work session. <br /> <br />May 10, 2017 – Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission (PREC) recommended <br />Commercial Recreation Specialists plan #1 replace the current Eagles Nest Indoor Playground <br />structure. <br /> <br />March 14, 2017 - Council authorized staff to advertise for bids and solicit quotes for the <br />replacement of the Eagles Nest Indoor Playground and appointed PREC and staff as an advisory <br />committee to evaluate, score and recommend preferred vendor to Council for approval. <br /> <br />December 13, 2016 – Council approved the 2017 Budget which included funding the Non-Fleet <br />Capital Asset Replacement Program to replace the Eagles Nest Indoor Play Structure. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />The cost to purchase and install a smoke evacuation exhaust fan totals $20,522 and would be <br />purchased from NAC Mechanical and Electrical Services.
