<br /> To maintain a positive relationship with the community by ensuring that all parks and <br />recreation staff is accessible to the residents and by working closely with local <br />organizations/associations in the delivery of services. <br /> <br />Parks/Forestry Division <br /> To continue to maintain the park system infrastructure in a manner that ensures its <br />physical integrity now and in the future. <br /> To implement new maintenance procedures or invest in new products and/or <br />equipment that will have a long-term cost savings. <br /> To operate the Neighborhood Centers in a cost-effective manner that promotes <br />cohesive neighborhoods and generates revenue when appropriate. <br /> To attract and retain fee paying users to the City’s park system. <br /> When applicable, utilize contractual services to perform maintenance duties in the <br />most cost-effective and efficient method. <br /> To prepare for the increase in public open space and right-of-ways associated with the <br />City’s redevelopment efforts. <br /> To work cooperatively with the Community Assets and Development Department in <br />the delivery of City-wide maintenance services. <br /> To manage and control emerald ash borer that threatens thousands of ash tree in New <br />Brighton. This includes tree injections to protect boulevard and selected park ash <br />trees as well as additional plantings to ensure replacement of trees that may be lost to <br />emerald ash borer. <br /> To control Dutch elm and oak wilt diseases on public and private properties in <br />accordance with state and city statutes and ordinances. <br /> Utilize contractual services to perform forestry duties in the most cost-effective and <br />efficient method. <br /> <br />Recreation Programs <br /> To continually evaluate recreation programs to ensure that the appropriate level of <br />program expenses are covered by user fees. <br /> To continue the aquatics program by ensuring that all costs associated with the <br />program are covered by revenues. <br /> To provide recreation programs which are accessible to all demographics. <br /> To provide positive recreation opportunities throughout the entire year. <br /> To provide recreation opportunities that promotes strong families. <br /> To monitor and improve recreation programs to meet the changing expectations of <br />patrons, to increase revenues, and to sustain healthy lifestyles. <br /> To continue to develop and maintain collaborative programs with neighboring <br />communities and organizations. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />New Brighton Community Center <br /> To be considered the focal point and gathering place for the residents in New <br />Brighton. <br />48
