Council Worksession <br />September 5, 2017 <br />5:00 pm <br />Present: Mayor Valerie Johnson <br />Councilmember Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Brian Strub <br />Absent: <br />Staff in Attendance: Dean Lotter, Brenda Davitt, Janice Gundlach <br />Guests in Attendance: <br />Mayor Johnson requested the Comprehensive Plan Update be presented first. The Council supported this <br />suggestion. <br />Comprehensive Plan – Update on engagement efforts <br />Lotter stated Gundlach would be updating the Council on the community engagement efforts with respect to <br />the Comprehensive Plan. <br />Gundlach provided a brief oral update on the Comprehensive Plan and commented on the feedback staff <br />received at Stockyard Days. She stated she spoke with over 100 people over three days. She reported that all <br />of the information on the boards has been turned into an electronic survey on Survey Monkey in order to allow <br />the City to receive additional feedback from the public. She explained all content on the City’s webpage ha s <br />been updated to include a link to the survey and all boards that were presented at Stockyard Days. <br />Mayor Johnson questioned what the public was most interested in. Gundlach stated park amenities was the <br />most discussed topic. She explained the areas proposed for change were also addressed by the public. She <br />noted there were two separate themes for the change areas, noting one side wants the City to remain as is, <br />while the other side supports major redevelopment. <br />Councilmember Bauman asked what park amenities the public was interested in pursuing. Gundlach <br />commented no specific details were given, but noted some requests were for dog parks, a splash pad and new <br />playground equipment. <br />Councilmember Strub thanked Gundlach for her all of her hard work at Stockyard Days. <br />Mayor Johnson was encouraged by the number of residents that were providing feedback and participating in <br />the Comprehensive Planning process. She thanked Gundlach for working so diligently on behalf of the City <br />for three days straight at Stockyard Days. She appreciated the visuals that were on hand at this event. She <br />encouraged the public to continue to imagine the possibilities.
