If the employee
receives a ranking of Immediate Improvement or Needs Attention then the employee’s manager must provide
examples of areas where the employee needs to show improvement. An employee with a rating of meeting
standards or higher, meets the job competency requirements. For performance reviews completed so far in 2017,
almost 50% of employees have their essential job functions ranked as an “element of strength”. Additionally, in the
2017 Citizen Survey, it was noted that almost half of New Brighton residents had some interaction with a New
Brighton employee. Of those, 80% gave “excellent” or “good” rankings to the overall impression of the employee.

RESPONSE

Based on completed performance evaluations to date, 98% of employees meet or exceed job competency
requirements.

98% of Employees Meet or Exceed Standards
Immediate Improvement (0)
Needs Attention (1)
Meets Standards (7)
Element of Strength (31)
Distinct Strength (12)
