26
Internal Promotions
Qualified internal candidates for management/supervisory job openings-60% of the time

RESULTS

Since the last report, the City has filled four management/supervisory positions:
1. Assistant Finance Director
2. License Bureau Supervisor
3. Parks and Recreation Director
4. Chief Water Treatment Plant Operator

Of the four vacant management positions in 2017, one of them was filled with an internal hire. It is important to note
that there were no internal candidate applications for the three positions that were hired externally. This is a KPI that
the City has met in the past.

INTERPRETATION

The City of New Brighton Organizational Structure has 24 positions that have management/supervisory responsibilities.

City Manager Assistant City
Manager
Community Assets
& Development
Director
Assistant Finance
Director IT Administrator Finance Director
PS Office
Supervisor
Street & Sewer
Supervisor
Storm and Water
Supervisor
Public Works
Superintendent
Public Safety
Director
Deputy Director of
Public Safety
Deputy Director of
Public Safety
Parks and Rec
Director
Asst. The organization will
provide the proper training and tools for employees in order to reach this goal.

RESPONSE
The City will continue to look to hire internally for these positions. Administration has begun to develop an internal
training “university” for employees who have shown interest and the capability of filling leadership positions. It is
expected that this training program will begin in mid-2018.

All Vacant Supervisory Positions
were Externally Filled
InternalPromotionsExternal Hires
