<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consider Approval of Resolution Authorizing the Mayor and <br />City Manager to Execute Master Labor Agreement Between Teamsters Local No. 320 <br />and the City of New Brighton <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Dean Lotter, City Manager <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br /> <br /> <br />No comments to supplement this report _______ Comments attached ______ <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Approve resolution adopting the proposed Master Labor Agreement between the Teamsters <br />Public and Law Enforcement Employees Union, Local No. 320 and the City of New Brighton for <br />the years 2018-2020. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br />City staff including supervisors from Administration, Parks and DCAD have been meeting since <br />early September to discuss potential updates to the Teamsters contract. Some of the discussions <br />included the City’s labor attorney who offered guidance and counsel regarding the contract. <br /> <br />Members of City staff representing the employer and the union, as well as a business agent from <br />the union met on October 4th and October 19th to discuss proposals from each side which has <br />resulted in the proposed contract. <br /> <br />Members of the Union have considered the contract and voted to approve the contract on October <br />20th. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />The proposed contract includes changes to wages, employer insurance contributions, uniform <br />allowances and injury on-duty pay. <br /> <br />Explanation: <br />The proposed contract is unique in some ways in that the City took the opportunity to create a <br />more streamlined, consistent and practical contract. This has resulted in a significant amount of <br />changes to contract language. All of the changes can be found in the attached Tentative <br />Agreement summary as well as the strikethrough proposed contract.
