October 10, 2017 Page 5 of 6 <br />Mayor Johnson stated she hoped to have this group meeting by November 1st but noted this was an <br />aggressive timeline. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to amend the Resolution <br />removing the last sentence from Directive No. 5. <br /> <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Amendment Motion Carried <br /> <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Amended Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported he would be meeting with the DX response team tomorrow to <br />prepare for a meeting with the Army next week. He provided the Council with an update on <br />the water treatment plant and discussed the work the DX litigators were completed on the <br />City’s behalf. He noted work continues on the license bureau and it was anticipated this would <br />be open for business the first week of November. <br /> <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the EDC met on Wednesday, October 4th and noted they <br />discussed a housing resolution. She explained the Cable Commission would be meeting next <br />Thursday. She indicated Cor Wilson was planning to retire and the Cable Commission would <br />be pursuing an executive search firm to assist with hiring a new Executive Director. <br /> <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported the Planning Commission would be meeting next on Tuesday, <br />October 17th. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported she attended the PREC meeting last Wednesday, October 4th <br />where the group discussed the progress being made on the Eagle’s Nest. She stated the Eagle’s <br />Nest was scheduled to reopen mid-November. She indicated the group also addressed the huge <br />success of the farmer’s market. She updated the Council on the progress being made on Lions <br />Park and thanked the 40 volunteers that have helped with the community build. She reported <br />200 seniors attended the ThrivExpo. She encouraged the public to attend the Health and <br />Wellness Expo on Saturday, January 6 th from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Public Safety Commission did not meet on Monday, <br />October 9th in order to allow the members to attend Fire Captain Freeden’s wake. He stated <br />Fire Prevention Week was October 8th through October 14 th. He encouraged residents to <br />replace the batteries in their smoke detectors. He indicated he attended the NYFS Taste of <br />Northeast fundraiser last week and was pleased by the great turnout at this event. He stated <br />CPY would be having their Fall Gala on Friday, October 27th. He commented on the recent <br />candidate forum and thanked each individual that was willi ng to put their hat in the ring to <br />serve the community. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnso n reported she was invited by several New Brighton residents from Kenya to be <br />their keynote speaker.
