<br /> <br />Public Safety Commission <br />January 30, 2017 <br /> <br /> <br />Attending: Commissioner Allen, Commissioner Boyd, Commissioner Conway, <br />Commissioner Donohue, Commissioner Eichers, Commissioner Hollimon, <br />Commissioner Schumann, Council Member Strub, Deputy Director Hamdorf, <br />Director Craig Schlichting (Director of Community Assets & <br />Development/City Engineer) and Dave Matteson (Allina Health) <br /> <br />Absent: Commissioner Anderson, Commissioner Howard, Commissioner Lamp <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order/Roll Call <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen called the January 30, 2017 meeting to order at 6:30 pm and roll call was taken. <br /> <br />November Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />The November meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Schumann made a motion to approve <br />the November meeting minutes; Commissioner Eichers seconded. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Public Hearing/Presentation <br />A. Striping, Signage and Lighting Requests – Director Craig Schlichting, Community <br /> Assets & Development/City Engineer <br /> <br />Director Schlichting reported that over the last year, City Staff has received inquiries/requests to <br />review parking, signage, striping and street lights in various areas. The City Council referred these <br />requests to the Public Safety Commission for consideration and policy guidance. Director <br />Schlichting asked the Public Safety Commission to accept, deny, or continue each request which will <br />be forwarded back to the City Council for final action. <br /> <br />Area 1 – Consider a yield sign at the corner of Northwest Parkway adjacent to APi Group entrance. <br />Director Schlichting gave a brief background on this request. He recommends approval of this <br />request. Commissioner Schuman made a motion to approve this yield sign; Commissioner Hollimon <br />seconded. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Area 2 – Consider extending length of no parking signs on the west side of Windsor Court (just south <br />of County Road E2). Consider the addition of a street light on Windsor Lane. Director Schlichting <br />gave a brief background on this request. He recommends installing additional “no parking” signage <br />and extend the no parking zone to the south to the entrance of Birch Pond. He also recommends <br />working with Xcel Energy to purchase and install a new LED street light at the intersection of <br />Windsor Lane and the Windsor Lane cul-de-sac. Commissioner Donohue made a motion to approve <br />the no parking signs and the addition of a street light; Commissioner Eichers seconded. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />Area 3 – Consider changing yield signs to stop signs at Tioga Blvd and Kiowa Ave. Consider <br />painted crosswalks for street intersecting Kiowa Ave. Director Schlichting gave a brief background <br />on this request. He recommends retaining the existing yield signs and work with the City Forester to
