5 <br />DWI the driver was booked for 1st degree DWI. His vehicle towed and held for <br />forfeiture. <br /> <br />On January 17th, Officer Kostorhyz runs a plate and discovers the registered owner has <br />felony warrant for receiving stolen property. The vehicle ducks into car wash but is <br />located. The driver had drug paraphernalia and controlled substance in the vehicle. The <br />driver was also showing signs of narcotic impairment. The driver failed field sobriety <br />tests. Officer Farmer wrote a search warrant for a blood draw. Officer Farmer was able <br />to get a successful blood draw. The driver was booked for the warrant and 5th Degree <br />Possession of a Controlled Substance. Additional pending charges include 4th Degree <br />DWI, Driving after Suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia. <br /> <br />On January 18th, squads responded on multiple reports of 5-6 shots being fired around <br />Long Lake Park. The squads located seven .380 shell casings in the Hansen Park parking <br />lot. Witnesses describe seeing an older red sedan fleeing the area. Squads checked the <br />area but were unable to locate the vehicle. <br /> <br />On January 20th, squads responded to a report of suspicious activity in an apartment <br />complex on Cleveland Avenue. The caller reported possible activity involving narcotics. <br />Officer Xiong locates a car suspected to be involved. The officers notice the smell of <br />burned marijuana, sees empty beer bottles and a prescription bottle in plain view. While <br />searching the vehicle, officers locate cocaine. The driver was arrested for possessing <br />controlled substance. Officer Layton followed up on this arrest. <br /> <br />New Brighton Police hosted the TZD Hi-Viz DWI Saturation with nineteen overtime <br />funded officers on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. <br /> <br />• 196 traffic stops <br />• 19 people taken to jail <br />• 13 DWI arrests <br />• 12 drivers cited for DAR/DAS <br />• 9 vehicles towed <br /> <br />On January 22nd, Officer Amberg locates a vehicle with two flat tires, driving all over the <br />road. Officer Amberg initiates a traffic stop on the vehicle but the vehicle doesn't stop but <br />pulls into Mounds View McDonald's briefly before taking off. The vehicle travels down <br />Hwy 10 at speed around 60mph with little to no traffic on the roadway. Mounds View <br />squads assisted. The pursuit continued northwest on County 10 through SLP and Blaine, <br />and into Coon Rapids. Officer Amberg successfully executes a PIT (Pursuit Intervention <br />Tactic) maneuver. A felony stop was performed without incident. The driver had a driver <br />license that was canceled-IPS. The driver was also intoxicated. He was booked at the <br />Ramsey County jail for Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle and the DWI. <br /> <br />On January 30th, Deputy Director Trevor Hamdorf observed an erratic driver on Silver <br />Lake Road and stopped the vehicle, eventually determining that the driver was under the <br />influence of alcohol. DWI Officer Matt Farmer processed the driver for impaired driving <br />with a reported BAC test of .31 (nearly four-times the legal limit) and booked the suspect <br />on charges of 2nd Degree DWI. His vehicle was held for forfeiture. <br />
