2 <br />I. INCIDENT RESPONSE INFORMATION <br /> <br />The following information contains summaries of significant police and fire related <br />incidents during the month. <br /> <br />On March 6, New Brighton officers were advised of a motor vehicle pursuit that had been <br />traveling eastbound on I-694 that was terminated by the Brooklyn Center Police <br />Department at East River Road but the vehicle continued traveling toward New Brighton. <br />Dispatch soon advised that the vehicle had been witnessed exiting the interstate at Long <br />Lake Road. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop without further <br />incident. The driver was taken into custody and turned over to Brooklyn Center PD. <br /> <br />On March 11, squads responded to New Brighton Community Center on the report of a <br />large fight involving several juveniles and adults. Eventually, Officers were able to <br />identify most of the involved parties. All were from Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, <br />north Minneapolis, and Robbinsdale. Several staff from Brooklyn Center High school <br />were involved. <br /> <br />On March 8, Officer Amberg attempts to stop a suspicious vehicle for driving around a <br />business that was closed. As he gets behind the vehicle and turns on the lights, the <br />vehicle accelerates so quickly that it spins the tires. The vehicle travels a short distance <br />then the driver flees on foot. Officer Amberg catches up to the party who then complies <br />with his commands to get on the ground. Once on the ground, the driver reaches into his <br />pocket and grabs a baggie of methamphetamine. The driver (a 23 year old from <br />Minneapolis) then placed it into his mouth and swallowed it. The vehicle ended up being <br />stolen out of St. Paul. Since the driver ingested the methamphetamine, he was taken to <br />Regions hospital for an evaluation. The driver was charged with Possession of a Stolen <br />Vehicle. <br /> <br />On March 9, Officers responded to the report of shot fired in the 2200 block of Silver <br />Lane. Dispatch advised the 23 year old resident had accidentally discharged his pistol <br />inside of the apartment. The resident advised nobody had been injured and officers <br />confirmed there were no injuries. CIS was consulted they will present case out of <br />custody for possible charges. <br /> <br />On March 9, Anoka County requested us to check the area of Long Lake Rd and 15th <br />Terrace NW for a suicidal 39 year old male who was reported to be armed with a .38 <br />caliber handgun. His cell phone was pinging to that area. Squads were unable to locate <br />the party. <br /> <br />On March 11, New Brighton officers responded to the 1400 block of Poppyseed to assist <br />with a male party who was intoxicated and suicidal with a gun. Officers set a perimeter <br />around the home and had the female caller exit the house. A Command Post was set up. <br />Numerous attempts to contact the suicidal party were met with negative results. After <br />deliberation, it was decided to clear the scene since the party did not appear to be a threat <br />to anyone. Later the next day, officers were dispatched back to escort the female back <br />into the home. This time officers located the male party sleeping in a bed with a loaded <br />9mm gun next to him. He was detained and transported to Regions for an evaluation. <br />Officer Kingslien conducts a follow up interview with the female and learns the male
