3 <br />party broke into the home through a basement window. He racked a round into a gun and <br />pointed the gun at her. He then was removing his shirt when he set the gun down. She <br />grabbed the gun. He then pushed her and removed the gun from her hands. He was later <br />picked up at Regions hospital and transported to the LEC where he was booked for 2nd <br />degree assault and burglary. <br /> <br />On March 22, an employee at Wolkerstorfer witnessed someone tampering with a vehicle <br />in the parking lot of the business. When the vehicle owner approached, he was sprayed <br />with pepper spray by the suspect. The suspect then fled in a van that was waiting nearby <br />and occupied by two females. An alert was put out for the suspect van but it has not yet <br />been located. <br /> <br />On March 22, about 7:15pm, New Brighton officers assisted the MN State Patrol with <br />pursuit of a stolen vehicle that was traveling eastbound I-694. The suspect vehicle was <br />“pitted” by a Trooper at I-35W. New Brighton officers assisted with taking the suspects <br />into custody. <br /> <br />On March 22, Public Safety had simultaneous fire calls, including a cooking fire on <br />Poppyseed Drive that extended to the kitchen cupboards but was thankfully extinguished <br />by the resident. Firefighters ventilated smoke from the structure and checked for further <br />extension of the fire. At the same time, a natural gas odor was reported in the basement <br />of a residence on 18th Avenue NW. Xcel Energy also responded in that incident and <br />located a leak. <br /> <br />On March 25 at approximately 2am, Centennial Lakes Police Department pursued a <br />vehicle into the City of New Brighton eastbound on 16th Street NW at Stinson <br />Boulevard. The vehicle traveled a few blocks before the driver bailed from the car at the <br />27th Avenue NW cul-de-sac. No New Brighton squads were actively involved in the <br />pursuit but our officers did assist with establishing a perimeter and taking both occupants <br />into custody. <br /> <br />On March 26, Public Safety responded to the 1200 block of Imperial Lane on report of a <br />gas dryer in a residence on fire with smoke and flames visible. The resident was able to <br />extinguish the blaze. Firefighters fully extinguished the fire and checked for extension in <br />the basement before removing the appliance from the house and ventilating the smoke <br />from the structure. <br /> <br />On March 26, a resident on 4th Avenue NW near West County Road E2 reported that a <br />vehicle had just struck a light pole. Responding officers found an unoccupied vehicle <br />parked on the sidewalk, with a downed streetlight nearby. It was determined that the <br />license plates on the vehicle had been stolen out of Mounds View, and in further <br />checking the VIN, the car itself was a reported stolen from Maple Grove. <br /> <br />On March 28, squads were dispatched to Long lake Regional Park on a report of an older <br />male exposing in front of another younger male at the beach. The suspect leaves Long <br />Lake Park in his vehicle. Squads locate and detain the party who is a 62 year old male <br />from Shevlin, MN. After speaking to witnesses, conducting interview and taking <br />statements, officers ended up citing the party for Indecent Exposure. <br />
