13
reviewed the 2018 budget process, and discussed personnel matters.

XI. RECOGNITION, NEWS AND INFORMATION

This section will include “good news” information about our public safety personnel.
This will include formal and informal recognition of the department and/or its personnel
on or off duty.

Deputy Fire Chief Brad Krebsbach met with the Command Staff of the Saint Anthony
Fire Department to review our expansion of closest-unit dispatching with that
neighboring fire service agency that will begin on March 27. They spoke about the
highest hazard occupancies nearest our joint municipal borders where their department
would likely respond to given their close proximity to the southern part of New Brighton
(south of County Road E and west of I-35W). As a reminder, Council previously
approved an agreement with all Ramsey County Fire Departments to allow Public Safety
to both send and receive automatic mutual aid based on proximity of apparatus resources
to confirmed structure fire incidents, regardless of jurisdiction.

Public Safety participated in a Law Enforcement Education and Employment Fair at
Century College. Our Police Reserve and Explorer Liaisons, including Police Officers
Aaron Slack, Ian Craig, and Brianna Riedel represented New Brighton at the event.

Congratulations to Firefighters Bob Reif and Jeremy Berger who both obtained their
Public Educator 1 certification from the Minnesota State Fire Service Certification Board.

One of the closest neighboring fire stations to the southeast portion of New Brighton,
Lake Johanna Station #1 on New Brighton Road in Arden Hills, will be closing effective
May 2. The property has been sold for redevelopment and Lake Johanna will be
relocating the equipment and personnel currently operating out of that site to their other
three stations. New Brighton does not anticipate any significant effect.
