<br />Public Safety Commission <br />August 14, 2017 <br /> <br />Attending: Commissioner Allen, Commissioner Boyd, Commissioner Cook, <br />Commissioner Ghouse, Commissioner Howard, Commissioner Kessler, <br />Commissioner Malone, Commissioner Wagner, Director Paetznick, <br />Council Member Jacobsen, and Ms. Renee Rosenberg (Allina Health) <br /> <br />Absent: Commissioner Conway, Commissioner Hollimon <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order/Roll Call <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen called the August meeting to order at 6:30 pm and roll call was taken. <br /> <br />July Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />The July meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Boyd made a motion to approve the <br />July meeting minutes; Commissioner Kessler seconded. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Public Hearing/Presentation <br />A. Police Body Worn Camera Public Comment Process Survey Results – Director <br />Paetznick <br /> <br />Director Paetznick briefly reviewed the process of the Police Body Worn Cameras “Public <br />Comment” Survey Results. Compared to other cities that have gone through this process, we <br />received good feedback numbers. Director Paetznick reviewed each question that was in the <br />survey along with the survey responses. Director Paetznick also reviewed the police officer <br />survey results with 22 of 27 officers responding. The next step is the body worn cameras policy <br />which we will discuss later tonight. <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen asked what the cost will be to implement and support the body worn <br />cameras. Council Member Jacobsen noted that we don’t know yet what the cost will be. <br /> <br />Department Reports <br />A. Allina Health – Dave Matteson <br />Mr. Dave Matteson, Allina Health, reported Allina has provided medical support for some big <br />events recently; the KTIS music festival in Blaine, the 4th of July celebration in Coon Rapids, <br />and the food truck event in Anoka. <br /> <br />Mr. Matteson noted he has been working with Deputy Director Hamdorf on a joint training <br />event, maybe in October, with the scenario of a patient who has been exposed to the Ebola virus. <br /> <br />Mr. Matteson provided some call response data through July for 2017: <br /> New Brighton has had 1,320 total calls for service; which averages out to about 6 calls a <br />day <br /> Response time is at 8:03 for all calls; 7:10 for emergent calls – Allina tries to go to calls <br />with lights and sirens only when necessary
