<br /> The top call volume categories are: nursing care/senior facility, sick person, falls, and <br />mental health calls <br /> <br />Mr. Matteson reported Allina has been trying to work through integration between Allina and <br />Ramsey County and Anoka County Dispatch Centers. <br /> <br />Commissioner Malone asked if the CERT members are used for trainings and if Mr. Matteson <br />knew a reason for the increase of calls. Mr. Matteson noted the CERT members are sometimes <br />used for these joint trainings and the increase in call volume can be attributed to senior facilities <br />and mental health facilities. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ghouse asked Mr. Matteson when lights and siren are used. Mr. Matteson noted <br />the use of lights and sirens is tied into codes assigned to the call; which is a whole protocol <br />Allina follows. <br /> <br />B. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen reported the VIPS met on July 25 and prepared for their upcoming <br />involvement with National Night Out. The next VIPS meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August <br />22, at 5:15 pm. <br /> <br />C. Public Safety Update – Director Paetznick <br /> <br />Director Paetznick noted we had another successful National Night Out. There were 126 <br />registered parties and 65 staff who attended these parties using 32 city vehicles. We collected <br />3,700 lbs. of food and 1,800 lbs. of school supplies. <br /> <br />Director Paetznick noted we are finishing up with Stockyard Days festivities tonight. We will be <br />recognizing the retirement of Ron Finney, Sr., at the August 22nd council meeting. Ron is <br />retiring after serving for more than 36 years as a firefighter; he will now be a fire educator for us. <br />Police officer interviews were held today with an anticipated hire date of early October. New <br />Brighton, Roseville, and St. Anthony police departments will be attending Fair and Impartial <br />Policing training in early September and Procedural Justice training in early November. Both <br />trainings are being put on by the Department of Justice and the COPS office. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kessler noted there was a good police officer and reserve police officer presence <br />at Long Lake Regional Park for the Stockyard Days festivities. She was very impressed by all <br />police officers and reserve officers as they were all very engaged with the people attending <br />Stockyard Days. <br /> <br />Commissioner Malone asked Director Paetznick about human trafficking. Director Paetznick <br />reported that in 2015, due to some grant funding, all of our officers attended training on human <br />trafficking and we have had some instances of human trafficking in New Brighton. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
