11 <br />On July 10th, a citizen in the 1500 block of 23rd Ave NW reported having books stolen <br />from their “Little Free Library Stand” sometime overnight. All the books were removed <br />except one and written inside the Library Stand was the word “Nigger” in black marker. <br />No suspects or witnesses at this time. <br /> <br />VII. VOLUNTEER SERVICES <br /> <br />This section contains information on our various volunteer organizations related to Public <br />Safety. This includes the activities of the Public Safety Commission, Police Reserves, <br />Police Explorers, and Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS). <br /> <br />The New Brighton Police Reserve Unit volunteered 432 hours during the month of July. <br />The Reserves participated with Christ the King church on July 11th for an Ice Cream <br />Social and on July 19th assisted at the New Brighton Farmers Market. <br /> <br />VIII. HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />This section will review ongoing activities for homeland security and emergency <br />management. This includes the activities of the New Brighton Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT). <br /> <br />IX. TRAINING <br /> <br />This section will review the training activities of our Public Safety personnel for the <br />month. <br /> <br />Police officers conducted their annual secondary/off-duty weapon qualification shoot this <br />month. In addition, all sworn members performed a course of fire using the M4 rifles <br />that are carried in all of the patrol vehicles. Sgt. Nelson conducted the training. <br /> <br />On July 18th and 19th, Officers Xiong, Wodnick, Kostohryz and Nordhus attended a 2 day <br />class on Standardized Field Sobrieties. <br /> <br />On July 31st and August 1st, Officer Nordhus attended a class on Street Survival and <br />Counter Ambush. <br /> <br />X. OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE <br /> <br />This section will review the ongoing administrative issues and meetings during the <br />month. This includes meetings, policy issues, ordinance changes, and personnel issues. <br />And, this also includes meetings of a county wide, regional, and/or statewide basis on <br />public safety related issues. <br /> <br />On Wednesday, July 5th, Deputy Director Hamdorf and Community Engagement Officer <br />Krebsbach met with Ramsey County Public Health about our prescription drug take-back <br />program. Following the meeting, Ramsey County Public Health indicated they would <br />pay for the recovery and disposal of prescription medications, along with all of the
