During the event the VIPS sold bike helmets and handed out fire hats and
stickers while Firefighters and Police Officers gave fire truck and police car tours.

Stephen Jeroy Mister, age 44, was sentenced to almost seven years in prison for shooting
an acquaintance. The two had been wrestling over a bottle of vodka. The shot went
through the victim’s stomach and into his leg. He was taken to Hennepin County
Medical Center in Minneapolis for treatment, where doctors removed 13 inches of his
lower intestine, but left the bullet in his leg. Mister pleaded guilty to one count of first
degree assault in January. The original crime occurred at an apartment building in the
1400 block of 20th Avenue NW.

The Public Safety Commission approved citizen survey regarding the police body worn
camera program was launched online this week, with further plans to use the City’s
website, blog posting, social media and other avenues to promote participation. The
survey will remain active through August 13th. Public Safety plans extensive awareness
during National Night Out and Stockyard Days to solicit a high amount of public
feedback about the proposed program.
