3 <br />On August 19, a party reported to the police that he paid for a ride from Starlight Motel <br />in Columbia Heights to New Brighton. Once in New Brighton, he claimed he was <br />robbed at gunpoint and roughed up for $500. Officers are following up with possible <br />suspect information they have developed. <br /> <br />On August 20, a New Brighton resident reported their home being broke into and several <br />items taken including a vehicle. The Minnetonka Police ended up locating the vehicle <br />and arresting three juveniles from Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center. The case is still <br />under investigation. <br /> <br />On August 21, New Brighton squads assisted St. Anthony PD locate a driver and vehicle <br />involved in a Hit and Run of a motorcycle. Squads located the driver and vehicle as he <br />was returning to his home. The party is a 56 year old New Brighton resident, who is well <br />known to members of the department. He is taken into custody without incident. A <br />preliminary breath test revealed a BAC of .24. He is turned over to St. Anthony PD. <br /> <br />On August 24, Officer Slack apprehended three juveniles who were in possession of four <br />stolen bicycles. The bicycles were returned to their rightful owners and the juveniles <br />were returned to their parents with charges pending. <br /> <br />On August 26, New Brighton squads responded to the 1100 block of Silver Lake Road on <br />an extremely intoxicated customer causing a problem. The party, a 52 year old Columbia <br />Heights resident, was removed and was given a preliminary breath test that revealed a <br />BAC of .35. He was transported to the hospital due to his extremely high BAC. <br /> <br />On August 29, New Brighton squads assisted State Patrol on a party reporting they were <br />pulled over on the E/B I-694 off-ramp to Long Lake Road by a party in a Hyundai <br />Sonata. The Hyundai had red/white flashing lights and was driven by a bearded man in <br />shorts and a t-shirt. This man approaches the window, chews the driver out for traffic <br />violations (with his hand behind his back) then takes off when driver says he's calling the <br />police. Vehicle registered to a 37-year old male from Brooklyn Center. The case was <br />forward to the State Patrol. <br /> <br />On August 25, an elderly resident reported that she had sent over $80,000 to someone in <br />Jamaica over the past four years in an effort to get her alleged winnings from Publisher’s <br />Clearing House. Public Safety is working to coordinate additional community education <br />about this issue that is targeting the aging population in New Brighton. <br /> <br />On August 28, New Brighton squads assisted the Mounds View Police Department on an <br />aggravated assault investigation. The suspect had allegedly pepper-sprayed his <br />roommate and also threatened him with a large sword.
