12
Sgt. Nelson attended the 2-day TZD Conference in St. Paul.

Sgt. Nelson completed 12 hours of Firearms qualifications with Officer Semanko.

X. OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE

This section will review the ongoing administrative issues and meetings during the
month. This includes meetings, policy issues, ordinance changes, and personnel issues.
And, this also includes meetings of a county wide, regional, and/or statewide basis on
public safety related issues.

Public Safety has identified 15 police officers with availability to work at various times
during the 10 days of Super Bowl related events next January 26 through February 4 and
has submitted our information to Minneapolis PD who will be compiling a final staffing
plan.

Public Safety hosted the monthly meeting of the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office
Chaplains. Director Paetznick and New Brighton Faith Community Liaison Officer Matt
Farmer attended the gathering of chaplains and law enforcement representatives from
other agencies.

The now 3-year partnership among New Brighton, Mounds View, Maplewood, and
Ramsey County to share a joint RMS through vendor Zuercher Technologies will soon be
bolstered with the addition of the St. Paul Police Department. This will greatly enhance
law enforcement information sharing across the county.

Deputy Director Hamdorf and Director Paetznick joined a group of more than 50 law
enforcement leaders from the State of Minnesota and over 10,000 attendees from around
the world who attended the 124th Annual Conference and Exposition of the International
Association of Chiefs of Police in Philadelphia. New York Times best-selling author
Simon Sinek was the keynote speaker at the Opening Ceremony. United States Attorney
Jeff Sessions was also a featured presenter during the General Assembly meeting. The
conference offered more than 140 educational workshops, with New Brighton officials
attending many focused on body worn cameras, police officer recruitment/retention, and
other law enforcement leadership issues.

The MCPA Board of Directors has appointed New Brighton Public Safety Director Tony
Paetznick as its Chaplain. He replaces long-time MCPA Chaplain and retired Eden
Prairie Police Chief Dan Carlson who served in that capacity for nearly a dozen years.
(Pastor Dan has also served as agency Chaplain for New Brighton Public Safety for the
past few years.) In his role as MCPA Chaplain, Director Paetznick will be bringing the
local New Brighton Faith Community Partnership model to this statewide organization to
develop a similar framework of spiritual care for Police Chiefs and law enforcement
across the State of Minnesota. In addition, he will provide ceremonial Chaplain duties at
association meetings and trainings, and coordinate spiritual care and support services for
members of the association.
