<br /> <br />Memo <br /> <br />To: Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission <br />Members <br />From: Patrice Atkinson, Recreation Supervisor <br /> Lori Hokenson, Recreation Supervisor <br />Subject: Health, Wellness and Membership Update <br />Date: November 30, 2017 <br /> <br />The New Brighton Parks and Recreation offers different programs to help <br />maintain and improve the health of residents. This includes the annual Health <br />and Fitness expo, Fitness Center at the New Brighton Community Center <br />(NBCC), memberships to NBCC, personal trainers and group fitness classes. <br /> <br />The Health and Fitness Expo has been an ongoing staple in the community and <br />is the largest annual public event located at the New Brighton Community <br />Center. The 13th Annual Health and Fitness Expo will take place from 9:30 am- <br />1:30 pm on January 6, 2018. <br /> <br />The impact of the Health and Fitness Expo is to educate, improve and provide <br />recreational opportunities that promote a healthy lifestyle. The design of the Expo <br />is to increase Membership and Group Fitness enrollment, Personal Training <br />Services and opportunities within the New Brighton Community Center. <br /> <br />NBCC houses different amenities for individuals of all ages to remain active for <br />those of all ages. This includes the fitness center with both cardio and strength <br />training equipment, a walking/jogging track, gymnasium, fitness studio and even <br />the Eagles Nest Indoor Playground for the younger residents. Parks and <br />Recreation also partners with the Mounds View School District for use of the <br />indoor pool at Highview Middle School. <br /> <br />One way to access these great amenities is obtaining a membership. <br />Memberships are available from youth to seniors, and from individuals to <br />families. Memberships are available on an annual or a monthly basis. Although <br />there are numerous membership package options to meet your personal fitness <br />needs, drop in fees are also available. <br />
