NEW BRIGHTON PARKS, RECREATION, AND ENVIRONMENTAL <br />COMMISSION MINUTES <br />January 4, 2017 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Kunesh-Podein <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Commissioners Eischen, Fields, Justin, Kunesh-Podein, <br />McEathron, Parker, Quade and Stenglein. <br />Members absent: Commissioner Brunell. <br />Also present: Sandy Breuer, Parks and Recreation Director; Mary Burg, Council <br />Liaison; Chris Wolla, Parks Superintendent and Craig Schlichting, Director of <br />Community Assets and Development. <br /> <br /> III. Approval of Agenda <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER JUSTIN, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />FIELDS TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes: <br /> A. November 2, 2016 Minutes <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FIELDS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />STENGLEIN, TO APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 2, 2016 MINUTES AS <br />SUBMITTED. <br /> <br />V. New Business <br /> A. 2016 Recap and 2017 Projects, Annual Update – Craig Schlichting; Director <br /> of Community Assets and Development. <br /> <br />Director Schlichting made the presentation of the 2016 Recap and 2017 <br />Project update to the Commission. The following topics were touched on in <br />the presentation: <br />1. Street Rehabilitation <br />2. Pavement Management Program including <br /> Totem Pole Park, about 1,600 feet of trail. <br />3. New Brighton Exchange <br /> Lions Park <br /> 4. MnDOT/Ramsey County updates <br /> A sound wall will be going up on the East side of 35W from County <br />Road D to the railroad bridge and also on 35W north of County Road <br />E2 on the west side up to the 10th street bridge. Another change to the <br />35W project is just north of New Brighton at County Road I at 35W; the <br />northbound connection will be removed. <br /> 5. Water Treatment Plant 1- much work took place in 2016. <br /> 6. RCWD/Hansen Park <br /> Dam on north end has been removed. <br /> Trail will remain closed until Fall of 2017. The trail will be at a new <br />higher elevation, so it will not flood as often. <br />
