 There are different levels of contaminated soil. Levels 2 and 3 will be <br />taken offsite, Level 1can be used on the fields and almost anywhere. <br /> <br />VI. Announcements <br />A. Council Report – Council Member Burg <br />Council met last on Dec. 13. <br /> Passed budget, Truth and Taxation hearing held. Saving for future CIP <br />and fleet projects. <br /> Staff and Council retreat coming up on Saturday. <br /> Bartz brothers snow sculpture (fish) done again this year. <br /> Congratulate Mary Kunesh-Podein who has been elected to the <br />legislature. <br />B. Chair Updates <br />C. Lions Park Focus Group Update – Commissioner Stenglein - Did not meet in <br />December. <br />D. Commission Reports on Parks <br /> <br />Driftwood: Parker. In good shape. Nets stay up for winter. Steel posts on the <br />edge of parking lot. <br />Freedom: Brunell. Since he is absent, he emailed to say flooding has been <br />going on; ice rinks heavily used. <br />Hansen: Fields. Picnic table moved to wooded area. The light by the bridge <br />comes on and off. Another is out just south of the building. Park looks good, <br />lots of people using it. <br />Hidden Oaks: Quade. People with dogs in the field, looks great. <br />Innsbruck: Kunesh-Podein. Melting, refreezing on walkways. <br />Meadow Wood: Eischen. Looks great. <br />Silver Oaks/Totem Pole: Justin. Silver Oaks – no report. / Totem Pole use <br />has dropped since cold weather. Building used more. <br />Sunny Square/Vermont: McEathron. S.Sq. -Trails were clear. Vermont – not <br />much activity – trails not clear. Chris Wolla stated they typically do not clear <br />them at Vermont. <br />Veterans: Stenglein. No one there. Park looks in good shape. <br /> <br />E. Department Happenings / upcoming events <br />Director Breuer highlighted a few of them: <br /> Top New Year’s resolution deals with being healthy. New Brighton <br />Parks and Rec is here to help achieve these resolutions. <br /> Tree trimming on the north end of New Brighton along boulevards. <br /> Freedom, Hansen, Sunny Sq. open for skating. Thanked Mr. Kvaal for <br />organizing volunteers at Sunny Sq. to keep that park open. <br /> Putting effort into the neighborhood centers. New furnace & air at <br />Freedom and Hansen. New vinyl floors at Freedom, Hansen and <br />Totem, Sunny Sq. received this prior to these three. Epoxy floor went <br />into all mechanical rooms at all four neighborhood centers. New <br />cabinetry being worked on as well. <br /> New Brighton Lions Club donated another $1,500 to our scholarship <br />fund. <br /> The Parks and Recreation Brochure was out in December with City <br />news on the opposite side. <br /> Our 12th Annual Health and Fitness Expo coming up Saturday, January
