1 <br /> <br /> NEW BRIGHTON PARKS, RECREATION, AND ENVIRONMENTAL <br />COMMISSION MINUTES <br />March 1, 2017 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. by Chair Kunesh-Podein. <br /> <br />Chair Kunesh-Podein announced that this is her last meeting on this Commission <br />as she will have a new responsibility with the House of Representatives. She <br />really enjoyed being on the Commission but it is time to turn it over to someone <br />else that can give it the time and attention needed. <br /> <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER QUADE, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />MCEATHRON, TO APPOINT COMMISSIONER FIELDS AS CHAIR. MOTION <br />CARRIED. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Commissioners Brunell, Eischen, Fields, Justin, Kunesh- <br />Podein, McEathron, Parker and Quade. <br />Members absent: Commissioner Stenglein. <br />Also present: Jason Hicks, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director; Mary Burg, <br />Council Liaison; Chris Wolla, Parks Superintendent <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FIELDS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />EISCHEN, TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes: <br /> A. January 4, 2017 Minutes <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER JUSTIN, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />FIELDS, TO APPROVE THE JANUARY 4, 2017 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. <br />MOTION CARRIED. <br /> B. February 1, 2017 Minutes <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FIELDS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />MCEATHRON, TO APPROVE THE FEBRUARY 1, 2017 MINUTES AS <br />SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />V. New Business <br />A. Chapter 29, Article 4 – Bicycles <br />Commissioner McEathron stated he was looking over the code on bicycles; <br />which seem very outdated. Would like the City staff look into updating the <br />bicycle laws to comply with and match State law. Currently there are <br />numerous discrepancies between the two; one of which is registration of <br />bicycles. He tried to register his bicycle and there was nowhere to do that. <br />MOTION BY MCEATHRON, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER FIELDS, TO <br />REVIEW THE ELEMENTS OF CHAPTER 29, ARTICLE 4 AND BRING THE <br />CITY CODE AND POLICIES ON BICYLES UP TO DATE WITH THE STATE <br />STANDARDS. MOTION CARRIED.
