1 <br /> <br /> NEW BRIGHTON PARKS, RECREATION, AND ENVIRONMENTAL <br />COMMISSION MINUTES <br />May 10, 2017 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Fields <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br /> Members Present: Commissioners Brunell, Eischen, Fields, Johnson, Justin <br /> (arrived 7:03pm), McEathron and Quade <br /> Members Absent: Commissioners Axberg and Stenglein <br />Also Present: Assistant Director Jason Hicks, Facilities Manager Bill Bach, Parks <br />Superintendent Chris Wolla and Council Liaison Mary Burg. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER EISCHEN, SECONDED BY MCEATHRON, TO <br />APPROVE THE AGENDA. MOTION CARRIED. 6 – 0. <br /> <br />A short discussion took place about what date would be best to hold the July <br />meeting. The Commission asked that it be put on the June agenda for further <br />discussion. <br /> <br />IV. New Business <br /> None <br /> <br />V. Old Business <br />A. Eagles Nest Replacement Project <br />Assistant Director Jason Hicks, thanked the commissioners for their work in <br />looking over the proposals and for some coming to the Community Center to <br />review them a second time. Assistant Director Hicks introd uced Facility <br />Manager Bill Bach. Mr. Bach informed the Commission on how the scoring <br />was calculated for the 9 Commissioners, 1 Council Rep and 3 staff members. <br />Commercial Recreation Specialists (CRS) was the vendor who scored the <br />most points, for their Plan #1 at 183.86. Their 2nd plan was 178.21. <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER JOHNSON, SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER QUADE, TO RECOMMEND THE HIGHEST SCORED <br />PLAN #1 BY COMMERCIAL RECREATION SPECIALISTS. MOTION <br />CARRIED. 7 – 0. <br />Assistant Director Jason Hicks stated the recommendation will go to Council <br />on May 23, 2017. <br /> <br />B. Hidden Oaks Courts <br />Acting Director Hicks stated at the last meeting the Commission requested <br />more discussion and possible direction on how to move forward with the <br />Hidden Oaks decision on the possibility of replacing the tennis courts with <br />Pickleball Courts. <br /> <br />
