6

There is a bench on the Pike Lake trail that is new and very nice. It was
another Scout Project.
Hansen: Fields. No Report.
Hidden Oaks: Quade. Park looks great. Have good memories from the
park as a child.
Innsbruck: Axberg. Did not get a chance to check it out. She will send a
note if there is anything to be concerned about. Her daughter commented
there were kids smoking at Freedom this morning. Public Safety was
involved.
Meadow Wood: Eischen. It really looks good. All the grooming done,
looks really nice. Basketball court and gazebo are being used. It is nice to
see people enjoying the park.
Silver Oaks/Totem Pole: Justin. Have not been to Silver Oaks in a few
weeks. Previously the park was rarely used. Now it is used more and
more. Retaining wall needs to be updated, leaning. Totem Pole, basketball
court always used. Tennis court used much more. Fencing (north) around
the ballfield in need of repair. Heavily used park.
Sunny Square/Vermont: McEathron. No Report.
Veterans: Stenglein. No Report.

D. Department Happenings / upcoming events
Acting Director Hicks commented that there have been improvements
on the medians with the placement of new mulch. It looks very nice.
The project took place with staff from all departments.
Lions Park playground was approved and will be installed in late
August or early September. It will be a community build.
August 8th is the 2nd of two ice cream socials that are taking place with
our youth sports programs.
Coming up is the Labor Day closure week at the NBCC, this includes
the demolition of the old Eagles Nest playground. The new Eagles
Nest should be ready for play sometime in November.
Commissioner Justin gave a shout out to the Eagle Scout projects right here at
Veterans Park. The two roofs over the dugout area were added. Would like to
thank staff member Mike Schute who came with his family on a weekend to help
at the park. Another Eagle Scout project was work around the pond, including
tree planting, at Veterans. There has been much done in the parks by the
Scouts. Agree with the comment earlier to have the scouts come forward and
explain their project to the commissioners.

VIII. Adjournment
MOTION BY COMMISSIONER QUADE, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER
AXBERG, TO ADJOURN AT 8:24PM. VOTE: 6 AYES. 0 NAYS. MOTION
CARRIED.

Respectfully submitted,

Jason Hicks
Acting Director of Parks and Recreation
