Council Report – Council Member Burg <br /> Council Member Burg thanked commissioners for their hard work. She <br />really appreciates the work that you are putting in. Your work does <br />make a difference. <br /> Budget discussions have started. In September the maximum levy will <br />be set. It can always move down from there until a date set by the <br />State of Minnesota. <br /> Last night was National Night Out. Had a huge turn-out of staff and <br />volunteers; something like 130. Collected school supplies and food for <br />the food shelf. <br /> Stockyard Days is coming up. Music every day Fri, Sat., Sun. Mayor <br />is Vice-President of Stockyard Days. Come out and enjoy. <br /> Council Member Burg mentioned she was not at the meeting because <br />she thought it was only the training discussion at that meeting and did <br />not realize that the Comprehensive Plan was also being discussed. <br />She would have asked someone to replace her had she been aware of <br />that. <br /> There will be staff members with a tent for the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />B. Chair Updates <br />None <br /> <br />C. Commission Reports on Parks <br />Driftwood: Johnson. The flowers in the island bed by the parking lot got <br />sprayed. Also someone posted on Facebook that they were excited that <br />the trails were mowed and the bridges in the back were repaired. It <br />definitely had an impact on the community. It looks good. There were <br />people playing soccer. <br />Parks Superintendent Wolla commented that the work at Driftwood started <br />out as an Eagle Scout project to improve the trails and put up some signs <br />and general cleanup. The Eagle Scout had 30 volunteers for about 7 <br />hours. They made massive piles of debris and when the debris was gone, <br />we could see a great amount of buckthorn. So we went in and mowed <br />down the buckthorn. The trails are well used. <br />Freedom: Brunell. All the summer kids were there. The field looked nice.
